— OUR STORY —
Based in the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe basin, our story begins. The altitude, crisp, clean mountain air, the pure Alpine Lake water, and absolute serenity of the Sierra Nevadas combined with the incredible energy of Lake Tahoe itself, is where I set up a family office under its own separate umbrella, for the purpose of asset appreciation based largely upon equity and bond investments. I have met so many incredibly intelligent, talented and wise people in the area - many of whom are incredibly experienced in life. Lake Tahoe, in particular has attracted quality people from diverse walks of life, but so many that are truly accomplished, its humbling and eye opening.
I never offer investment advise to anyone, after all this can be very dangerous and these folks are mostly older than me and so successful in my eyes. The investment office was born out of this ecosystem and mindset. Subsequently, years later came the digital assets trading firm, Alpine Equity Fund Group a/k/a Alpine Equity Fund.
The Alpine Basin of Lake Tahoe and Las Vegas, NV, some 7 hours south in Nevada, offer radically different ecosystems and people. I discovered a large quantity of dynamic people relocating to Las Vegas from Silicon Valley, SF, LA, Orange County, and San Diego. As most people know, there's a mass exodus thats been going on with people leaving California in droves relocating to Las Vegas and other cities. In fact, the quantity moving to Las Vegas from California alone is staggering. Las Vegas is now far more than simply the gambling mecca of the USA and world. It has diverse industries and has attracted high level intellectual capital and successful business people, doctors, lawyers, scientists and more. Las Vegas is on the rise with its business scope widening daily, with two brand new public companies based in LV listed on the exchange just in the last two months alone. One is focused on prefab micro-housing and the other one is an Ethereum Treasury Company similar to Strategy.
I don't think that published data has any way of capturing this because the migration is done in waves with layered transitions, plus there are no published metrics on corporate HQ's and public companies migration, but I can share with you first hand, Las Vegas is punching far deeper and harder than its weight. Our network is growing rapidly in the Las Vegas area as well as Tahoe. It's a completely different demographic from the investments approach of silent gen to boomers and gen x, largely what we experience in Lake Tahoe. In Vegas its Gen X down to millennials and Gen Z, a younger demographic. Financial interests focus more on trading, crypto, IPO's , AI platforms, arbitrage, commodities and futures, very different than conventional long term portfolio management.
Exposure to such different demographics all within Nevada, makes for very interesting conversations, relationships and pursuits. Trading is a much faster pace than investing, and involves substantially more mathematical actionable real-time metrics at ones disposal. Over time, I started trading when volatility increased, then more trading than investing in terms of time invested. Trading simply takes much more time, more focus and has very different objectives.
My roots come from a deep long-term investment background so my background differs radically from most traders. Many traders don't care about fundamentals, only momentum. We are not typical at Alpine Equity Fund Group. After extensive research, it became obvious that these two separate endeavors (Investing vs Trading) demand separate resources and focus. This is precisely what lead to the creation of Alpine Equity Fund Group, a digital assets trading firm.
